This is the extract taken from my site ( tracking my 'Journey to Medicine'), i have given you the taster but i feel there i must point you in the direction of the more detailed version, linked above as there are much broader reasons to my love of medicine then a short few paragraphs can justify.

Quote:
"Medicine to me is all the intriguing answers to the questions that i as a person who is unsatisfied with basic explanations asks. How does that work? Why doesn't that work? How can it be prevented/fixed? All of which can applied to the human body, the topic where most of those questions crop up.

Many once fit relatives of mine have died from cancer leaving behind twisted memories of the shadows of their former selves. In their memory a pursue my dream but i still play football for my school teams which they have always supported as i have for eight years. My photography is very important to me as it reflects part of my passion for medicine. To capture a fleeting second of time, of that fragile life now preserved for another day, the local bands pouring their hearts and souls into their music, their joy as their perform. Apart from preserving life i enjoy improving the quality of it, where i used to help adults with learning difficulties at a swimming session and play games with a few residents of a old peoples home.

It's not an easy job and it's always changing. There is no limit the amount you need to know, i could never lead a life stuck like a broken record repeating myself over and over with little hope of moving on. I love to learn, fulfill those curiosities and such a highly pressured scientific environment, surrounded by what really makes me feel like I'm truly living. Pressure is said to bring either the best or the worst in people, i suppose it's dependent on the situation really but a fast environment i find comfortable as i'm a very calm person in the face of a challenge.I often slip into the role of a team leader in order to get things done efficiently and effectively but i am happy to step back and let others run the show if they have a higher grasp of the situation then me. Medicine draws all of those aspects together to me and i will not let such an opportunity for my future, my dream pass me by without a fight.

All in all i want to help those i can, bring hope to those who have none, to find what the eye alone can't see and o learn all the while as i do"
I will be a doctor, i say this not in arrogance but for the fact i won't give up until my dream is accomplished no matter what it takes.
